MORGAN FEENEY SIGNS A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION

,

Carlisle United are delighted to announce that Morgan Feeney has signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the Blues until the summer of 2029.

Feeney, 27, has been an integral part of United across his two spells, becoming captain on both occasions as well as being a consistent presence in the heart of the defence.

Originally joining the Blues in January 2021, he enjoyed a successful spell at Brunton Park, which culminated in the 2023 EFL League Two play-off final victory over Stockport County at Wembley.

He left to join Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2023, where he spent two seasons before re-joining the Cumbrians in June 2025.

Since returning, Feeney has taken his United appearance total to over 120 games and continues to be a vital leader on and off the pitch at the club.

Morgan Feeney said: "I’m really happy to commit my future to Carlisle United for another two years. It’s been something I’ve wanted to sort out for a while, and I’m delighted we’ve finally got it done.

"This club means a lot to me, and being able to continue representing and captaining Carlisle United is something I’m proud of. I’m looking forward to continuing to work hard and helping the team progress.

"This is a massive club with an incredible fan base who follows us in numbers everywhere, that doesn’t go unnoticed and is appreciated more than they know.

"I want to do all I can to help the club get back to where it belongs in the EFL and give the fans what they deserve, a club and a team to be proud of."

Rob Elliot, Carlisle United Head Coach, added: "It's obviously brilliant to secure his [Morgan Feeney's] future with the club. I think he epitomises what a captain of Carlisle is. It's brilliant for the future to know that he's going to be our captain, not just this year but beyond.

"I couldn't ask for a better person to wear the armband and represent the club. He's not only influential on the pitch, but he's just as influential off the pitch. Most importantly, he's a great person.

"I'm really pleased with that. I'm pleased for Morgs; he deserves it."

Marc Tierney, Carlisle United Sporting Director, said: "We’re delighted to have secured Morgan’s future at the club. He’s an important player for us, both in terms of what he brings on the pitch and the leadership qualities he adds to the group, and extending his contract is a positive step as we continue to build for the future.

"As a club, we’re looking to move forward and develop a squad capable of achieving our ambitions. Having players like Morgan, who can set standards, drive those around them and contribute consistently, is a key part of that. He’s approaching what should be the peak years of his career, and we believe he can play a major role in helping us take the club forward during that period.

"It’s also a reflection of the belief Morgan has in the direction we’re heading. We’re pleased to have him committed to Carlisle United for the years ahead and look forward to seeing the impact he can continue to make as we progress."
