Carlisle United are delighted to announce the arrival of midfielder Callum Camps from Stockport County on a two-month loan deal.
Camps, 30, is an experienced operator in the middle of the pitch with over 400 appearances in the EFL and brings added creativity to the Blues' squad.
Hailing from Stalybridge, he began his career with Rochdale, coming through the academy to make his debut in April 2013 before going on to feature 240 times, scoring on 30 occasions.
Fleetwood Town came calling in August 2020, and he found the net on his debut against United in the EFL Cup in September 2020.
After 82 games and 14 goals for the Cods, Camps moved to Stockport County in July 2022, where he has had 124 outings so far, including the Blues' 2023 EFL League Two play-off final victory at Wembley.
Rob Elliot, Carlisle United Head Coach, said: "When you get the opportunity to sign someone with Callum's experience at this level, you can't turn that down.
"I think his experience will really help some of the young midfielders we've got, strengthen the squad and really add quality in terms of on the ball and around the goal.
"I think sometimes when you have that opportunity to bring in a top professional who's played 300-400 games and been at a high level, it really is something you can't not do as a coach and as a club. I think he'll bring brilliant experience and know-how as to how you perform at levels consistently."
Marc Tierney, Carlisle United Sporting Director, added: "We’re pleased to have brought Callum in on loan from Stockport County, whom we thank for their co-operation in getting this deal done.
"He’s an experienced midfielder who is comfortable on the ball and will add quality and depth to that area of the squad, also bringing experience of promotion, which is valuable as we look to strengthen the group for the challenges ahead.
"We want to ensure we have a strong balance within the squad, with players who can bring different qualities and help us move forward. We believe Callum will be a good addition in that respect, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring during his time at Carlisle."
Callum has been allocated shirt number 32 and will be eligible to make his United debut this evening against Harrogate Town.
This move is subject to ratification from The FA, EFL and National League.
