GABE BREEZE DEPARTS FOR CAMBRIDGE UNITED

.

Carlisle United can confirm that goalkeeper Gabe Breeze has joined Cambridge United for an undisclosed fee.

Breeze, 22, departs Brunton Park after progressing through the club’s Academy and establishing himself as United’s first-choice goalkeeper.

He signed his first professional contract with the Blues in 2021 and made his senior debut against Fleetwood Town in December 2023, going on to feature on 85 occasions for United.

Head Coach, Rob Elliot said: “Gabe has been brilliant to work with and has handled himself well throughout.

“When a player asks to speak to a club and an opportunity like this comes along for a young player who has come through the club, you have to recognise what it means for his career.

“He leaves with our thanks and best wishes for the future.”

Marc Tierney, Sporting Director, added: “Gabe’s progression from the Academy into becoming our number one goalkeeper is something both he and the club can be extremely proud of.

“He contributed to the first team regularly for the past couple seasons, attracting interest, this move represents an excellent opportunity for Gabe to continue his career in the EFL and is also a positive example of the pathway we want to provide for young players at Carlisle United.

“After Gabe made it clear he wanted to pursue the opportunity we allowed him to speak to Cambridge. We wish him the best in his future career.”

Everyone at Carlisle United would like to thank Gabe for his contribution to the club and the wider community during his time with us, and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.
