EVERYTHING WE LEARNT FROM MORGAN FEENEY: PRE BOREHAM WOOD (A)

.

Before Carlisle United take on Boreham Wood on Sunday, we spoke to Blues' defender Morgan Feeney.

Speaking to CUTV, he discussed the togetherness within the squad, bouncing back from defeat, fixture scheduling challenges and the importance of community work.

Here is everything we learnt;

1. Enjoying life back at Brunton Park

“It’s been enjoyable for me to be back around the place. We’ve had a decent start to the season, which obviously helps.

“Hopefully, we can carry that on and have better times again.”

2. Building a strong partnership at the back

“Brilliant. Aaron’s (Hayden) a hard-working lad, and I really enjoy playing with him.

“It’s funny because I was here with him last time, but we never actually got to play together, so it’s been nice. We’re enjoying it, but we want more clean sheets because we feel we’ve deserved a few more than we’ve got.”

3. A close and positive dressing room

“It’s brilliant. You’re always off to a good start when you’ve got a good group of lads.

“Everyone gets on, you enjoy coming in every day, and I think you can see that on the pitch. It’s not just about quality, it’s about bonding off the pitch as well.”

4. A professional win at Harborough Town last time out

“It was almost a typical cup game. Away on Astro, they were there to upset us, and they were a decent side.

“Luckily, we got through it professionally, everyone came through unscathed, and we’re into the next round, which was the main thing.”

5. Looking ahead to Boreham Wood

“They’re a good side, but so are we.

“If we put our performance right, we’ll back ourselves against anyone in the league. Hopefully it goes well for us at the weekend.”

6. Previous meeting provides learning

“It always helps when you’ve played them earlier in the season.

“We had a good lead in that game and threw it away, which was disappointing, so that’s in the back of our minds and we’ll be ready to put that right.”

7. Supporting Junior Luamba through injury

“It’s really disappointing for him. He was gutted, especially after scoring and then having to come off.

“He’s a great lad and we’ve all got round him. It’s a good dressing room, and anyone who picks up an injury gets that support.”

8. Dealing with play-off pressure

“To be honest, we’re just focused on winning games.

“We can’t affect other results, so all we can do is keep winning, put pressure on and see where that leaves us.”

9. Adapting to an irregular schedule

“I don’t think any other team has had their schedule changed as much as we have.

“It’s been tough on the fans with travelling and late kick-offs, but they still turn up in numbers, and we’re really grateful for that support.”

10. Making an impact in the community

“It was brilliant. No one should be in hospital at Christmas, especially kids.

“For us, it was a small amount of time, but to see the smiles on their faces made it really special. They were so grateful, and it was great to be able to do that.”
