Leo Duru spoke of his excitement after completing his move to Carlisle United following a successful trial period with the Blues.
The 21-year-old right-sided defender arrives at Brunton Park after impressing throughout pre-season, earning himself a permanent deal under Head Coach Rob Elliot.
Having come through the ranks at Blackburn Rovers, Duru has gained senior experience in England and the United States, while also representing the USA at under-20 level.
After putting pen to paper, Duru admitted he is delighted to have secured his move to Cumbria.
He said: "It feels good to get it over the line. I've enjoyed the first couple of weeks here, so I'm really excited for the season.
"I got the opportunity to come on trial here and took it straight away because when you go on trial you're backing yourself to impress, and I knew I could do that."
The defender also praised the atmosphere within the squad, having quickly settled into life at the club.
He said: "It's a really tight group. There are a lot of different characters, but you always need that in a changing room, so it's been really positive."
Duru revealed Rob Elliot outlined exactly how he sees him fitting into the team from day one.
He explained: "As soon as I came in, Rob took me into the office and showed me how I'd fit into the team and the role he wants me to play.
"When we've got the ball he wants me high and wide, expressing myself and playing with freedom, and I think that really suits my game."
The defender believes his energy and attacking intent can add another dimension to the Blues this season.
He said: "I like to bring energy, pace down the right and combine with the midfielders. Then defensively it's about being solid one-v-one and doing the basics well."
Having enjoyed an encouraging start to pre-season, Duru is optimistic about what the squad can achieve this year.
"It's been tough, but tough in a good way. Everyone's working hard and I think that's going to show during the season.
"We believe this can be a special year. We know the expectations that come with playing for Carlisle United and we're determined to get the club back where it belongs."
