Carlisle United captain Morgan Feeney praised the Blues’ character after they came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory against Solihull Moors.
United responded to conceding just before half-time, with Feeney equalising before David Ajiboye scored the winner to secure three points in difficult conditions.
The captain was pleased with the response after the break and believes the team showed the resilience needed to come away with the victory.
He said: "I think it was a game about character. Obviously, the conditions played a part, but obviously both teams as well.
"We spoke about it at half-time. We limited it down to very few chances first half. They obviously scored on the stroke of half-time, so there was no panic from us, but it was about who was going to show more character.
"It certainly was when we went out there second half. We arguably could have been a couple more in front, but delighted with the win."
Feeney was pleased to get on the scoresheet himself, with the captain's goal helping United turn the game around before Ajiboye struck to seal the win.
He also highlighted the contribution of the substitutes, with the squad's strength set to be important during a busy run of fixtures.
"Massive. I think they changed the game in many aspects.
"They come in with fresh legs, and Galv (Ryan Galvin) was excellent next to me; Kenz (Kenton Richardson) comes on early and is excellent. I like the lads you mentioned there; Miggy (Miguel Azeez) comes on and controls the game, Dave (Ajiboye), Wearney (Stephen Wearne).
"Real team effort, team performance, and I think in a lot of games this season, we speak about the subs coming off the bench and making a difference, and I think they made a massive difference today."
Attention now turns to Wednesday's fixture, with United looking to extend their unbeaten run and maintain their recent progress.
Feeney believes the team can build on the result as they continue to work towards greater consistency.
"I mean, we're always working to be better, and we know the story from the early part of the season, where we should have put a few victories away when we've been a better team.
"But you know, we've reset that, and we've come away now with a little unbeaten spell, and we're just focussing on this week, with the three games this week, and then we've got the FA Cup after that, and then we move on from there.
"So, just keep ticking the games off and trying to get better each time."
