After his match-winning goal in the 2-1 win at Braintree Town, we spoke to left-back Cameron Harper.
Speaking to CUTV, he reflected on a hard-fought away performance, patience paying off, and the importance of momentum heading into the run-in.
Here is everything we learnt:
1. A tough away test
“It was tough, you know, the pitch isn't great, and obviously they're in a relegation scrap, so they were going to make it hard for us.
"I thought it was a professional performance, come here, get the job done and leave with three points.”
2. Grinding it out as a team
“Great determination from all the boys to keep going and get that win at the end. That’s what it’s about.”
3. Half-time message
“The gaffer said we hadn’t played badly, but we hadn’t been at our best either.
"We knew if we just upped it that little bit more, the goal would come. It was about staying patient.”
4. Understanding the challenge
“We knew what kind of game it would be.
"They’re fighting for their lives and were always going to make it difficult, but it shows our mentality to come here, get the points and move on.”
5. A winning return
“I’m delighted to get the goal and the three points.
"Everyone’s going to be needed between now and the end of the season, so it’s nice to come back in and contribute.”
6. Patience rewarded
“Football works in funny ways; you’ve just got to stay ready.
"I’ve not played the last few weeks and was disappointed, but to come back in and score the winner, I’m really happy.”
7. Talking through the goal
“I noticed I was free on the edge of the box and just tried to get any contact on it towards goal with so many bodies in there.
"Luckily, it went through a few legs and found the net.”
8. Celebrating with the fans
“It was a bit of relief, to be honest. After the last few weeks of not playing, it was a great feeling to celebrate with the fans.”
9. Seeing it out
“We had to defend well at the end, and everyone was switched on. It shows the mentality we’ve got in the group now.”
10. Support on the road
“The fans were brilliant again. Everyone knows how well backed we are, so a big thank you to them for travelling and supporting us.”
