EVERYTHING WE LEARNT FROM MARK HUGHES: POST BRAINTREE TOWN (A)

.

Following a late victory on the road at Braintree Town, we spoke to Head Coach Mark Hughes.

Speaking to CUTV, he discussed the result, squad management and building momentum at a crucial stage of the season.

Here is everything we learnt:

1. Another important win

“The important thing was the result, and we were able to see the game out and get what our performance deserved.

"I thought we played well and limited them to very little.”

2. Determination rewarded

“We wanted to win the game and made attacking changes to do that.

"Thankfully, that got us over the line, and the lads showed the right mindset again.”

3. Tough conditions overcome

“It’s difficult coming here with the surface and conditions, and against a team fighting for their lives.

"But we handled it well and deserved the result.”

4. Defensive solidity

“Apart from one moment, we dealt with everything they produced. It would have been a travesty if we hadn’t won that game.”

5. Key contributions

“Regan (Linney) was excellent again, and he’s coming into form at the right time. He’s having a real impact on games now.”

6. Squad impact

“Cammy (Harper) did really well when he came in, and Archie (Davies) showed good impact, too.

"We’re using the squad and making sure everyone is ready when called upon.”

7. Patience pays off

“We had to be patient, pick the right moment and eventually we were able to take the game away from them.”

8. Opportunity for Hugh Parker

“I thought it was the right time to give him a start, and he worked exceptionally hard. He’ll benefit from that experience.”

9. Positive signs from Ephraim Yeboah

“He showed calmness and composure late on. He looks like he wants to take players on, and he’s got a good football brain.”

10. Momentum building

“That’s six points this week, and we just need to keep going. If we keep winning, we’ll put ourselves in a strong position.”
