MATCH UPDATES: Hints and tips ahead of the weekend visit of Macclesfield

Getting ready for the visit of the Silkmen

2 November 2019

A big welcome to our match day sponsors

Our match sponsor this weekend is Thomas Graham. Long standing supporters of the club, they'll be up in Foxy's Restaurant as they back the Blues on Saturday. We hope they bring us luck as they get behind the lads for the big game.

Thomas Graham
Our match ball sponsor for the game is Mike Temple. He's with us to celebrate his birthday and, again, we hope that he and his guests have a superb day with us.

Mike Temple
Have a great day with us everyone!

United and Royal British Legion launch Poppy Appeal

Thank you to the Royal British Legion, the Cumbria Army Cadet Force and the veterans of the King's Own Royal Border Regiment and the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment for helping us to make our 2019 Poppy Appeal launch another special one this year.

Young cadets will form our guard of honour ahead of kick off, with the veterans ready to take their place at the centre circle for a minute of respect (this will include the playing of the Last Post, by bugler Pete Rees, followed by silent reflection, which will cease on the referee's whistle).

The veterans will be joined by a member of the Cadet Force as they lay poppy wreaths in the centre circle, and we hope you will give all of our military representatives a huge round of applause as they leave the pitch on the day.

Carlisle United raised over £13,000 for the RBL Poppy Appeal last year - please give generously once again when you see the collectors this coming weekend.

Thank you to John Ireland, a veteran of our local regiment, for helping us to pull this together once again this season.

Don't forget we have a 2019 CUFC Poppy Badge currently on sale. For more information, click HERE

Our official 2019 Kick it Out fixture

You'll see the players wearing the familiar t-shirts ahead of kick off this weekend as we again raise awareness of the important Kick it Out campaign, particularly in light of recent events both nationally and internationally.

Work is continuing with the Premier League and the Football Association to improve processes and procedures in place to address discrimination in stadiums, with commitments made to review how clubs sanction and educate offenders, tackle under-representation across all levels of the game and improve training provisions for stewards to ensure they are best equipped to recognise and respond to issues as they arise.

However, there is no room for complacency and, on Show Racism the Red Card day, the EFL and its clubs are reinforcing the collective approach to be taken under the header ‘Not today or any day’, if anyone experiences, or is subject to, discriminatory behaviour.

not today
The EFL recommends the following methods:

+ Report it to a steward or police officer. Reporting incidents early helps clubs to take immediate action.

+ Confidentially report it via the Kick It Out App, available on iPhone and Android.

+ Report it to Kick it Out on social media (@KickItOut), phone (0800 169 9414) or email

+ Via the Kick It Out website form at

In addition, clubs, players, managers and officials have also been reminded of a matchday protocol introduced to domestic football ahead of the 2019/20 season, alongside The Football Association and the Premier League, in an attempt to ensure the matchday environment provides a positive experience for all.

The protocol is designed to ensure that incidents of abuse are effectively addressed, perpetrators are identified and dealt with, while at the same time make sure that the match is not unduly interrupted with a step by step guide mapped out to support participants take the right course of action in such a scenario.

Pyrotechnics are a forbidden item!

As we head towards the traditional Guy Fawkes celebrations, the EFL and its member clubs are again alerting supporters to the dangers surrounding the use of pyrotechnics within football grounds.

United host Macclesfield Town this weekend, with bonfires and fireworks displays organised around the city and county after the game, and in the following days as we lead up to 5 November.

Any instances of pyrotechnic use means innocent parties may be at risk of serious injury as a result.

Prior to Bonfire Night the club, along with the EFL, has re-launched its commitment to tackle the use of pyrotechnics, which includes smoke bombs, flares and fireworks within all football grounds.

This was initially launched in November 2017 with Carlisle United agreeing to - and signing up to - a new Club Charter on Pyrotechnics.

For more information on the consequences of bringing pyrotechnics to our games, home or away, click HERE

Keep an eye on the pitch at half time as Carlisle City under-8s go up against Pirelli FC under-8s with both teams looking to score goals on the Brunton Park pitch. Remember to pick a team and cheer the boys on!

We're also looking forward to welcoming Cummersdale, Inglewood Junior, Pennine Way Primary and Castle Carrock schools as part of our extremely popular Cumberland Community Ticket Scheme. Have a great day with us gang!

The Supporters’ Car Park

The car park is open as normal this weekend.

Parking costs £3 for cars, £10 for mini-buses and £15 for coaches.

Season ticket, press, scouts and disabled parking is situated at the north end of the Pioneer Stand. Disabled parking is for Blue Badge holders only.

Remember – access has changed due to new counter-terrorism advice. Both of our Warwick Road car entry points are now closed 30 minutes prior to kick off, with access then diverted to the Stonyeholme Golf Course entrance.

For full details, click HERE.

Warwick Road traffic nightmares continue

The stretch of road being worked on goes from the entrance to Brunton Park all the way up to the eastern side of Botcherby Bridge.

This is causing very long delays in all directions as you approach the stadium.

Delays can be anything from 5 to 45 minutes, depending on volume of traffic, so please have this in mind when you plan your journey for Saturday.
