EFL: KNOW THE GAME PLAN - STAY SAFE

Tactics to keep you safe

27 October 2018

Recent national advice, following terrorist attacks around the country, has led to all clubs asking their fans if they ‘Know the Game Plan’ for reporting any concerns they have and reacting to any situations that may arise.

Bob Eastwood, the EFL’s security advisor, said: “Getting supporters to think about security is just part of the work football has been doing in partnership with the police.

“Over the last 12 months we have held many events all over the country so counter terrorism officers and stadium security managers can share their knowledge and do all we can to stay a step ahead.

“The safety of all fans is football’s number one priority and we all have a role to play in doing everything we can to keep each other safe – police, officials and supporters.”

Following a site security survey, completed by the Police CTSA, a statement said: "I consider that your site is potentially at risk from terrorists who may seek to target the large crowd of people associated with it, in an effort to cause maximum casualties.

“The impact of terrorism can include death and injury to staff and customers, economic harm and disruption to your business and reputation and loss of public confidence."

The use of vehicles in crowded areas is on the increase, as we see in the news on a regular basis and, as such, we need to ensure that vehicles and pedestrians are kept apart from each other.

Here at Brunton Park we have adjusted our match day access timings for vehicles, with entry to the access roads and car parking areas from Warwick Road now closed off 30 minutes prior to kick off.

Vehicles must enter the Brunton Park footprint via the Stoneyholme access road after this point.

Please plan this change of access time into your journey should you travel to the game by car, coach or mini-bus.

KNOW THE GAME PLAN ADVICE

The key ‘Know the game plan’ advice all fans are asked to follow is:

+ Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks.

+ Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground.

+ Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away.

+ If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999.

+ In an emergency, listen to the Public Address instructions and follow them.

+ If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile.

+ Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles.

+ Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates.
