United’s youth team are back in action tomorrow as they take on Rochdale in their second game of the U17 Professional Development League Cup.
The Blues make the trip to Greater Manchester, and will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat to Bolton Wanderers in the competition earlier in the month.
There are 44 teams taking part in the competition, with 11 groups consisting of four teams in each group.
The top 16 teams will advance to the knockout stages, with the next best-placed 16 teams moving into the U17 PDL Shield.
Speaking to CUTV, Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Mark Birch is hoping that his side can improve from earlier disappointment in the group-phase and overcome the challenge that Dale present.
“We narrowly came out on the wrong side of the result against Bolton, but we’re hoping for a better all-round performance on Tuesday.
"We're looking to get a win under our belts and see where that takes us heading into our final match in the group", he explained.
There are several players who featured in Saturday's draw with Chesterfield, who are also in contention to start against Rochdale, and Birch is aware of the challenge a quick-turnaround presents.
"We've got to get players back to full fitness and make sure that they're ready.
"That's the reality of football and it's something we've got to deal with", he added.
The match is scheduled to take place at Platt Lane Sports Complex, with kick-off at 2pm.
