UNITED SECURE CONN-CLARKE LOAN DEAL

Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Conn-Clarke from Peterborough United on loan until January with options.

The 23-year-old joins the Blues from the Posh, adding an extra dimension to Mark Hughes’ side.

Born in Belfast, Conn-Clarke was involved with Linfield and Glentoran as a youngster before being offered a scholarship by Burnley in 2017.

During his time with the Clarets, he spent time on a work experience loan with Chorley before making a permanent move to Fleetwood Town, joining their development set-up.

While with the Cod Army, the Northern Ireland youth international enjoyed loan spells with Waterford and twice with Altrincham before signing for the Robins permanently in 2023 for a club record fee.

It was with the Greater Manchester side that Conn-Clarke flourished alongside Regan Linney, scoring 22 times and assisting on 12 occasions as he was named National League Player of the Year during the 2023/24 season.

Darren Ferguson lured the attacking midfielder to London Road in June 2024 for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal, and he has featured 30 times for the Posh, assisting five times and scoring once.

Head Coach, Mark Hughes said: “He’s a player with real quality in the final third — composed, creative, and clinical when it counts. He brings with him a proven track record at this level, and his experience, along with his technical ability, makes him a valuable addition to the squad. We’re confident that his presence will make a significant impact, not just in terms of goals and assists, but in the overall dynamics of our attacking play.”

Head of Football Operations, Marc Tierney added: “Both the club and Chris were fully committed to making this move happen, and thanks to the fantastic support from our owners, we were able to get the deal over the line. We’d also like to thank Peterborough for their professionalism — they’ve been a pleasure to work with throughout the process.

"Chris is a player who really excites us. He’s got genuine quality on the ball, creativity in the final third, and a strong work ethic that will complement the team. He offers something a bit different, and we’re looking forward to seeing him link up with the manager, the coaching staff, and his new teammates.”

Chris will wear the number 38 shirt during his time at Brunton Park.

This move is subject to FA and National League clearance.
