The annual Fan Engagement Index is valuable in terms of raising standards across the game and putting what clubs do under the microscope. Importantly, it is independent which allows fans to assess their own club and clubs to benchmark themselves each year. It also highlights the fantastic work that goes on at many clubs across the game.
Chief Executive, Nigel Clibbens said: “As we have seen over the last year, our fans provide unwavering support, to drive us on. Our approach to fan engagement is focused on creating a truly inclusive and interactive fan experience that fosters a strong sense of belonging among our supporters.
"We are delighted to be ranked highly. It recognises the work we do to engage with our fans and the processes we have in place for it to continue.”
“It shows we remain on the right track and up with the best - clubs are continuing to focus on this area, and fans expect it. To be at the forefront is something to be proud of.”
Supporter Liaison Officer, Simon Clarkson said: " To come second nationally again is a huge credit to all those who work so hard on fan engagement. As fans we have a whole host of opportunities to engage, ranging from dialogue with fan volunteers on a matchday, fans reps via Carlisle United Supporters Groups and direct contact with club reps.
“The great thing is that the club are receptive to new ideas, seek fan feedback and support fan initiatives. We only have to look at the growth of the Northern Competitions Fan Zone as a brilliant example."
CUST 1921 Board Director, Matt Spooner said: “It is incredibly pleasing to see the club continue to perform highly in the Fan Engagement Index. The gap is closing between us and Exeter - who are majority fans’ trust owned.
“The club is working hard to use fan opinion, feedback and input on a number of areas – you will already have seen and continue to see developments and changes as a result of direct fan input over the coming seasons.
“Carlisle United supporters are deeply rooted in the fabric of the club due to the Supporters’ Trust’s shareholders agreement. We are a working example of a partial fan ownership model, and notably, the club embraces this relationship. We are working closer than ever before. Fan engagement is taken further with strong links to the wider fan base through CUSG.”
