TRAINING FACILITY UPDATE

Sheepmountacademy

We are really pleased with how the Sheepmount facility is currently being used, here's a short update from the club.

Academy matches are being played at the facility, with a good matchday atmosphere, and the site continues to play an important role in supporting both academy and first team training activity. This includes the brilliant 3-0 victory over Oldham Athletic (pictured above).

There are over three years remaining on the club’s current five-year lease at the Sheepmount, as it continues to provide a positive daily environment for players and staff.

Any future development there would represent a major investment decision, and the club is carefully analysing all aspects of the potential opportunity before making any long-term commitment.

Chairman Tom Piatak said: "Everything we are doing is guided by our vision to compete at the highest level possible, as a sustainable football club that inspires pride and belongs to everyone.

"We see real potential in the Sheepmount, not only as an important facility for Carlisle United, but as something that could deliver wider value for the community as well.

"At the same time, any future development will be a major decision, and we are taking a careful and responsible approach as we assess the long-term opportunity."

As part of our vision to instil pride in Carlisle and Cumbria, the ambition is to create a facility that benefits the wider community by providing opportunities for participation, development and engagement, while helping to strengthen the city as a place people are proud to live, work and visit.

Head of Football Operations Marc Tierney added: "Having the right environment to train, develop and support players at every level is hugely important.

"Being at the Sheepmount has already helped us create a positive daily environment for our academy players and staff, and we’re excited about what the future could hold."

The club would also like to thank local MP Julie Minns, Cumberland Council and Future Places Studio for their insight, support and continued engagement as discussions progress regarding a potential longer-term lease and future funding opportunities.
