EVERYTHING WE LEARNT FROM REGAN LINNEY: PRE TAMWORTH (A)

.

Before the trip to Tamworth, we caught up with attacker Regan Linney.

Speaking to CUTV, Linney discussed his form throughout the campaign, the influence of senior figures in the dressing room, and the motivation of playing in front of a strong travelling support.

Here is everything we learnt:

1. A season of ups and downs

“It's probably been up and down, to be honest. I've really enjoyed the club and the fans and everything around the place, but personally, I started off really well, and then I had the problem with my face, so I was out for nearly a month.”

2. Embracing promotion expectations

“I think that's what you want as a footballer. You want that expectation to go out there and expect to win every game, and I think we've done really well this season.”

3. Confidence in front of goal

“I'm a confident footballer and a confident lad as well, but I was hoping for a few more, to be honest. I think I dipped in form a little bit before what happened, but I always expected to do well in this league.”

4. Settling quickly at the club

“I just go into any dressing room confident and enjoy my football. I think that's one of the reasons why I've settled in well here.”

5. Leadership within the squad

“Morgan (Feeney) is a leader, isn't he, a very good leader and all the lads listen to everything he says.”

6. A hard-earned away win in midweek

“I thought we'd done really well. The travelling stuff didn't help us with the trains, but you've just got to deal with that on the day, and I thought we defended as a team and got the job done.”

7. Preparing for a tough test at Tamworth

“Tamworth is a horrible place to go. There's the 4G pitch and a lot of long balls, but we'll be ready for that and deal with it when we get there.”

8. Adapting to artificial surfaces

“I don't actually mind playing on 4G because we trained on it most days at Altrincham. It's just a bit different with the bounce and the balance.”

9. Feeling ready after the quick turnaround

“I feel good, and I'm raring to go. We've had recovery, and the lads are just ready to tick these games off now.”

10. Appreciation for the travelling support

“Look how big of a club it is. Even when we had 250 the other day, it's massive compared to some places I've been, so we're massively grateful.”
