Carlisle United Head Coach Rob Elliot is expecting a different test on Tuesday night as the Blues prepare to take on Forest Green Rovers.
Following a quick turnaround from Saturday’s draw against Southend United, Elliot says squad management will be important as United look to maintain the intensity of their performances.
Rotation could be key to manage the players' load while providing opportunities to those on the fringes of the starting line-up.
He said: "I think you have to look at it. There are a lot of players who deserve to play and start, but you have to manage the squad.
"You want to get the balance between players who are in form, players who are threatening the goal or looking defensively solid, and making sure you freshen things up as well.
"With the way we want to play, we want intensity, we want to press, and we want to get after teams, so we’ll make sure we give ourselves the best chance of doing that."
The Green head into the fixture on the back of a convincing weekend victory against Gateshead, and Elliot is expecting a side capable of posing several different threats.
"They’re very powerful, and they’ve got a lot of quality.
"They’re probably a little more counter-attacking this year. They’re happy to get into a good shape and then wait for opportunities to attack.
"They’ve got a big squad and some really good players, so there are things we’ll have to manage but, like with anyone we play, we back ourselves, and we’ll go into the game looking to impose ourselves."
Elliot will watch Tuesday’s game away from the touchline as he serves a one-game suspension, but he has complete confidence in his staff to manage the game from the technical area.
"It doesn’t affect too much. The staff work really well together, and they work incredibly hard.
"Louis (Storey), Gavin (Skelton), Jack (Cudworth) and everyone involved will step up and I’ll be in communication with them.
"Sometimes being higher up actually gives you a broader picture of the pitch, so we’ll make the most of that. I’m very comfortable with the staff who’ll be on the sidelines."
Despite the short turnaround, Elliot says there will be no change in the principles he wants to see from his team.
"I enjoy watching this team because they work hard, they want to get after the opposition, and they want to impose themselves on games.
"That’s exactly how I want us to be. At times you have to adapt, reset and get into your shape, but we don’t want to come away from what we’re trying to do.
"We’ll keep working, keep improving and go into Tuesday ready for another big challenge."
