ROB ELLIOT: "WE NEED TO MAKE SURE WE USE IT AS A SPRINGBOARD TO KICK ON."

.

Head Coach Rob Elliot wants Carlisle United to build on back-to-back victories when they host Kidderminster Harriers at Brunton Park on Saturday.

United have collected six points from their last two away games against AFC Fylde and Aldershot Town, responding positively to a difficult spell and recording their first clean sheet of the season along the way.

Elliot was pleased with the performances and results but stressed the importance of maintaining those standards as the Blues look to build momentum.

He said: "Really pleased with the points returned. Pleased with the performances after a poor performance away to Eastleigh and then obviously the second half against Woking.

"We've become a bit more all-rounded and probably put the performances together and been a bit more consistent and a bit more solid.

"We need to make sure we use it as a springboard to kick on."

Elliot believes a greater focus on the fundamentals has helped the Blues turn their performances into positive results, with the players showing increased resilience and responsibility in key moments.

And he insists the squad must combine their attacking threat with defensive organisation as they look to make it three consecutive victories.

"I think we just played some brilliant stuff. We have to be more resilient and more ruthless, making sure we don't allow teams to dictate the game.

"We probably went back to basics and doing the basics first, winning the first and second balls and making sure the units are tighter together.

"Having that mentality right has been the key difference for me."

Attention now turns to Kiddy, who have made a strong start following promotion from the National League North last season.

Elliot expects a difficult test against a physical and well-organised side but wants his players to concentrate on their own performance and continue building on the progress made in recent weeks.

"They've got some good players, and they've signed some good experienced players at this level. They're really hard to break down and don't concede many goals.

"Every game is a difficult game at this level, so we need to make sure we're concentrating on ourselves and our performance.

"If we have the performances like we've had the last couple of games, then we're giving ourselves the best opportunity to win."
