ROB ELLIOT: "THE BOYS DESERVE SO MUCH CREDIT."

ELLIOT ALDERSHOT

Head Coach Rob Elliot has praised his Carlisle United side’s mentality after a 3-1 victory against Aldershot Town at the EBB Stadium.

The Blues have picked up back-to-back wins for the first time this season, with goals from David Ajiboye and Micah Obiero firing United to an important three points

Elliot believes that his team were in complete control on Saturday afternoon in Hampshire and deserved to win.

He said: “I thought the mentality again today was superb.

“The reaction from a bad half of football has been excellent and the boys deserve so much credit.

“We've limited them to lots of deep crosses and the boys in defence were excellent today.”

Ajiboys was United’s most dangerous player in attacking areas, and he picked up a brace of goals against the Shots.

The 28-year-old, who typically plays out wide, was selected to play up-front in the absence of Georgie Kelly, and Elliot was delighted with his contribution.

“I thought he was excellent today, the positions he took up, him and Regan worked well together.

“When he has that mentality when he's ready to run and work for the team, he’s unplayable on his day.

“He was superb,” Elliot explained.

Another goalscorer, Obeiro, who returned from international duty with Kenya in the early hours of the morning, was crucial in securing victory against Aldershot.

His Head Coach has praised his work rate, and quality in his impressive cameo appearance.

“Micah has done about 35 hours of travelling in the last two days; he didn't get back until two o'clock yesterday from Africa.

“He turned up today and perfomed.

“His link-up play and his strength was superb, there's so much to come from Micah,” said Elliot.

The Blues aren’t in action until next Saturday, and the 40-year-old says that his side need to have the same mentality against Kidderminster Harriers.

“We just need to make sure we keep that mentality and keep going into the week.

“Recover, train properly and get ready for Saturday.

“We need to put that mentality that we've shown the last two games into the match against Kidderminster; they’re a team that’ve started very well.” he added.
