Rob Elliot says his squad are still on a journey to being at their best after picking up his first point as Carlisle United Head Coach at Yeovil Town.
The Blues left it late, with Harvey Bunker rising highest to head Brad Nicholson's cross into the back of the net, salvaging a draw on the road.
And that point could be seen as very important later in the season if United can cut out the mistakes and push on according to Elliot.
He said: "On reflection, I think it's going to be a very good point down here; they're a very good team. It's always a tough place to come.
"So we'll take the point in the circumstances, but just obviously got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. And I don't mind people making mistakes; that happens in football.
"I just want our mentality to keep rising because I think that was the only issue for me is we lost 20 minutes of the game after that. But we adjusted well at half time, got on top and then just obviously forced the issue to get the goal."
The draw sees United avoid going pointless from their opening two games, which can provide a platform for Elliot's squad to build on.
And the Head Coach believes the Blues still have work to do to get to their best while transitioning to a new style since his arrival in the summer.
"It's brilliant for Harvey (Bunker); it's fantastic for the fans who travelled all that way to get that moment at the end. But I just know how good this group can be, and I know the journey we're on, and it's not going to be a quick one.
"It's going to be something that's going to take time. We're working with young players; we're working with players that need to develop.
"We obviously know where the squad's at, in terms of making attacking changes, but I thought the substitutes made a huge difference today, and I think that's what we need. We need the subs to come on and be able to affect the game, and they did."
Over 300 Blues travelled the long distance to Yeovil, and Elliot was pleased his side were able to send them away with something to cling onto late on.
"I think that the most pleasing thing is that at the end, they get to enjoy the goal and get to see us score and salvage something from the game. And now I'm hoping that'll be a very important point for us come the end of the season.
"So it's great to do that. And make sure the lads go over to show their appreciation for the fans because I thought they were superb throughout the game.
"I think we could see today, it was a bit of an edgy contest between the two teams and then when the sending-off comes, you know how tough it is to play in that situation, but the fans kept with us. To get the goal in front of them at the end was an added bonus and hopefully makes the long journey a little bit easier."
