Head Coach Rob Elliot apologised to supporters after Carlisle United's 5-2 defeat to Woking.
The Blues created a number of clear opportunities during a dominant first-half display but were unable to make them count before Woking took control after the break.
Elliot was frustrated by both his side's lack of cutting edge in front of goal and their response when the game turned against them.
He said: "It's a completely disappointing performance.
"First half, we should have scored five or six. Same old story, not putting the ball in the net, not enough quality around the goal.
"And then for 15 or 20 minutes in the second half, we completely mentally capitulated. It's not acceptable."
Attention now turns to how United respond, with Elliot insisting the club must quickly identify who is ready to fight for the challenge ahead.
The Head Coach believes difficult decisions may now be required as preparations begin for the trip to AFC Fylde on Tuesday night.
"We reset. We look at who can help us and who can't.
"We look at who's willing to fight and who's willing to come along for the journey to make this club better.
"We need to be realistic and look at what does work and what doesn't, and we need to make those tough decisions."
Despite the result, Elliot believes there is enough quality within the squad to improve, but stressed the players must show greater resilience when faced with adversity.
He also issued an apology to the supporters who turned out at Brunton Park.
"I think there's enough belief in the group, but not after that second-half performance.
"First half, we created multiple chances, clean chances to score, to win games and put the game to bed. We don't do it, and then we go under second half with a bit of pressure, which is not acceptable.
"I can only apologise to the supporters. You've got to be ruthless, and we weren't good enough today."
