Club captain Morgan Feeney admitted Carlisle United's performance was not good enough after Saturday's 5-2 defeat to Woking at Brunton Park.
The Blues were left frustrated after a difficult afternoon, with Feeney offering an honest assessment of the display and insisting the standards shown after the break fell well below what is expected at United.
The defender felt the Blues failed in key areas across the pitch and believes the players must take responsibility for the result.
He said: "Not good enough by a large margin second half.
"A disgraceful performance in terms of getting to the ball, putting our foot in, winning our duels, putting the ball in the back of the net and keeping the ball out of our net.
"It's not the standard that would be accepted at this football club, and we need to have a hard look at ourselves because that's not good enough."
Feeney pointed to a lack of intensity and competitiveness after the break and said the squad must address those issues quickly.
While acknowledging there have been positive moments this season, he believes recent performances have fallen short of the standards set by the group.
"It seemed like a bit of a lack of effort at times, which is unacceptable in any football ability that you play, whatever level you play at.
"We were slow getting to the ball second half, we didn't win our duels, and we gave them too many chances.
"We haven't had a clean sheet this season, and that's not good enough for this football club."
Attention now turns to the challenge of responding, with Feeney calling on the squad to demand more from one another ahead of the AFC Fylde trip.
The captain insists the group still believes they can turn things around, but says improvements are needed immediately.
"We've got to be better as a group of players; we've got to look each other in the eye, and we've got to demand from each other.
"We've got to be stronger, we've got to be more aggressive, we've got to be louder, and we've got to be more demanding of each other.
"It's not can we do it; it's we've got to do it, and it's got to be done now."
