ROB ELLIOT: "THE CHARACTER TODAY WAS EVERYTHING."

.

Head Coach Rob Elliot praised Carlisle United’s character and togetherness after the Blues secured a 4-2 victory against Altrincham to record a fourth consecutive away win.

United produced another impressive performance on the road, with Callum Whelan, Callum Camps, Micah Obiero and Jonah Lowes all getting on the scoresheet.

Elliot was delighted with the way his side grew into the game, particularly after a difficult opening period, and praised the contribution of the entire squad during a demanding run of fixtures.

He said: "It's a fantastic game of football, two very good teams in form. We started sloppy because, well, I think we know why we started sloppy.

"We tried to freshen up as best we could, but we still wanted to keep some control, some idea of the team and the back five especially, that have been so solid.

"A couple of little mistakes earlier; we never got into our flow, but we did well to get our goal and then just assessed a few things, and I think the character today was everything really."

The victory completed a memorable period for the Blues, who collected nine points from three games, with Elliot particularly pleased with the impact of those introduced from the bench.

The Head Coach believes the strength of the squad and the togetherness within the group have been key to the recent run of results.

"I think that's been the story of these three weeks.

The subs have made such a big difference, and that just shows we're not a team, we're a squad, and that was the pleasing thing today, the lads who come on the pitch.

"Embo [Elliot Embleton], back from I don't even know how long, he's been so frustrated, showed his quality and it was just good to have, just to finish off a fantastic week with three wins and just shows the togetherness and the mentality of the group's just growing and growing."

Elliot was also delighted to see Micah Obiero and Jonah Lowes get on the scoresheet, with the latter enjoying a special moment in front of the travelling supporters.

"He is, he's such a great lad, he's such a lovely lad, but he's got a real bite and desire about him.

"I thought today the way he tracked his men, the way he showed a bit of composure on the ball to move the ball and open the game up was superb, and then the desire to run him and Galves [Ryan Galvin], the desire to run to go and get their goals and to get the goal for Jonah and to celebrate in front of the fans,

"It's just a fantastic moment that I know he'll never forget and, you know, hopefully we'll see more of that to come."
