MATCH REPORT: CARLISLE UNITED 1-1 FOREST GREEN

.

Carlisle United picked up a point against Forest Green Rovers in a 1-1 draw at Brunton Park.

Kyle Kelly had given FGR the lead early on, but Micah Obiero scored his first goal since re-joining the Blues to cancel it out, as neither side could find a winner.

The Blues made two changes from Saturday's draw with Southend United, seeing Micah Obiero make his first start in his second spell for the Blues, coming in for Leo Duru, while Ryan Galvin returned to the starting line-up in place of Josh Williams.

Teddy Jenks nearly got United off to the perfect start, curling an effort just wide of the far post from inside the penalty area.

Kyle Kelly gave the visitors the lead in the eighth minute, flicking Jayden Clarke's in-swinging corner past Adam Desbois in the Blues' goal.

United were level in the 28th minute when Jenk's persistence paid off; pouncing on some tentative Rovers defending, he drove in on goal, and the ball fell to Obiero to fire home.

Set pieces continued to cause United defensive issues, with Clarke pulling an effort wide from the edge of the box after a neat corner routine.

Determined running from Galvin saw him fly down the left flank, and his low cross found Kelly, who saw his shot deflected over.

Sean Etaluku had an opportunity to strike for the visitors before the break, racing away down the left, but he could only find the side netting.

HALF-TIME: Carlisle United 1-1 Forest Green Rovers

Kelvin Abrefa fancied his chances from range, but his powerful effort was comfortably gathered by Desbois.

A floated cross from Junior Luamba found a combination of Brad Nicholson and Georgie Kelly, but they failed to get a meaningful effort on target.

Stephen Wearne and Leo Duru's neat interchange gave Regan Linney the chance to shoot at goal, but he blazed his effort off high and wide.

Azeez sent Linney away just past the halfway line, and he drove into the box, but his shot rolled just wide of the far post.

A pinpoint cross by Miguel Azeez from a free-kick was met by Georgie Kelly, but his header flew over.

Craig Ross made an acrobatic save, and Luamba hit the bar late on, but United failed to convert as the game ended level.
