Carlisle United are pleased to confirm the commencement of car park improvement works at Brunton Park, supported by leading local firm Story Contracting.
The project represents an important step forward in the club’s ongoing commitment to improving facilities for supporters, while also highlighting the vital role the local business community can play in supporting the club’s long-term development.
The work sees a previously unused space next to the car park on the east side of the stadium turned into multiple new parking spaces.
The works are being delivered with the backing of Story Contracting, whose contribution reflects a shared commitment to enhancing Brunton Park for the benefit of fans, the wider community, and the city of Carlisle.
Tom Piatak, Carlisle United Chairman said: “Great to see the car park work getting started.
“I personally cannot thank Story Contracting enough for their support. It is genuinely appreciated and another great example of local businesses stepping up to help move the club forward in a practical way.”
The project is also being positioned as part of a wider call to action for businesses across Carlisle and Cumbria to play their part in supporting the club.
Fred Story, Owner of Story Contracting and former Carlisle United owner said: “Everyone across Carlisle and Cumbria has seen the commitment and investment the Piatak family has made in Carlisle United. The question for the rest of us in the local business community is simple: how can we help?
“This club is an important part of the city, and improving Brunton Park should not rest solely with one group of owners. There is a role for all of us to play, whether through time, equipment, services, expertise, or by finding practical ways to make things better.
“We were pleased to support the car park works, and hopefully this encourages others to look at where they can contribute as well. If local businesses each do a little, together we can do a great deal to help the club and create a facility that supporters, the community, and the city can take real pride in.”
The club sees this initiative as the beginning of a broader effort to strengthen ties with the local business community and encourage further collaboration in improving infrastructure and supporter experience at Brunton Park.
As part of this initiative, the club is also encouraging other local businesses and partners to explore how they can get involved in future improvement projects at Brunton Park.
Opportunities may include support across areas such as surfacing, painting, cleaning, landscaping, interior revamps and other practical enhancements that contribute to the look, feel, and functionality of the stadium.
The club has identified several areas for improvement around Brunton Park, including floodlight upgrades and a recreational area for players.
World Group are delivering the work to transform the old study centre next to the Blues Store into an area that players can use to socialise and bond, as well as an area for fans.
Matthew Spooner, World Group Owner and Carlisle United Supporters' Trust Board Representative, said: “Being part of a key upgrade to Brunton Park is brilliant. It’s a great opportunity for us to support the club in a practical way and help create a space that benefits both the players and the fans.
“Projects like this show what can be achieved when local businesses get behind the club and contribute their expertise to something that means so much to the community.”
All work will be completed ahead of our final home clash of the regular Enterprise National League season, ensuring no disruption will be caused on matchday.
