Following Carlisle United’s 3-0 home win over Brackley Town on the final day of the Enterprise National League season, we spoke to Head Coach Mark Hughes.
Speaking to CUTV, he discussed the impact of the fans, the side’s performance, and the return of Junior Luamba.
Here’s everything we learnt:
1. Final day success
“Really strong today, and it really illustrates the strength of the squad.
“I thought we were excellent.”
2. Making changes to the squad
“I didn’t think it really affected us today, all credit to the guys who came in.
“Some of the players really needed to get some minutes, and they did.”
3. Ryan Galvin’s influence
“He was one of our better performers, a great performance.
“Very unlucky not to get a goal for himself.”
4. Junior Luamba’s return
“The timing of it is spot on. We were able to give him a number of minutes.
“He’s a big, athletic man who can affect opposition teams. To have him as an option going into a playoff game is important for us.”
5. The lap of appreciation
“It’s been a good season; I’d like to think that we’ve given them something to cheer.
“We want to achieve something together.
6. Ephraim Yeboah’s spark
“I thought he was bright; he showed a lot of power.
“He was prepared to do the ugly side of the game, which was good to see.”
7. East stand singing section
“It was a good initiative, I’m sure if it’s replicated in the playoffs, it will be great.”
8. Looking forward to the playoffs
“Bring it on, we’re in a really good place in terms of our confidence.
“We’re in good shape.”
