After Carlisle United’s 3-0 victory against Brackley Town at Brunton Park, we caught up with midfielder Callum Whelan.

Speaking to CUTV, he discussed the continued momentum, enjoying more game time, and his PFA Community Champion Award.

1. A quality performance 

“I would say it was the perfect day.  

“The message before the game was to not let up; we certainly kept our standards high.”

 

2. The team’s depth 

“I think we have a really good squad, there’s some real bright sparks.  

“We’re going to need the full squad, in hopefully what is two games left.” 

 

3.Ephraim Yeboah’s contribution 

“He’s been brilliant since he’s come in. 

“He’s definitely a live wire, and he deserved to play; he caused problems.”

 

4. Archie Mair’s first start 

“I’m buzzing for Archie, he’s trained so hard.  

“He’s kept positive, and you could tell in his performance, I’m buzzing for him.” 

 

5. A fast start again 

“We said before the game that we needed a fast start.  

“The mentality for us that it wasn’t an end-of-season game.” 

 

6. The Lap of Appreciation 

“It was amazing, it’s nice we could get our families involved as well. 

“We showed our appreciation for the fans because they deserve it; they follow us everywhere in numbers.”

 

7. Looking to the playoffs 

“We’ll just carry on our preparations as a normal week.  

“Let’s see who we get.” 

 

8. PFA Community Champion Award 

“A really nice day personally for me. 

“It was great to get some more minutes for me; I needed it in the legs.”
