EVERYTHING WE LEARNT FROM HARVEY MACADAM: POST BOSTON UNITED (A)

.

After scoring a brace to extend United's unbeaten run to ten, we spoke to Harvey Macadam.

Speaking to CUTV, he discussed enjoying his football, the buzz of scoring goals for United and building momentum.

Here is everything we learnt:

1. Second-half improvements

"I thought in the first half we weren't quite at it, but in the second-half I thought we were outstanding.

"I thought we [utilised] lots of patterns [of play] that we do in training and [we] executed them well in the second-half, which ultimately got us the three points."

2. He's the happiest he's been playing football

"I'm loving my football and [it is] probably the happiest [that] I've been playing [the game].

"I took my two goals well tonight. I think I need a new celebration though [because] my knees are in tatters, but I'll take more of them."

3. Composure is crucial on the edge of the box

"I think I've just seen it [the ball] drop, and I needed to sprint to get there. I've just hit it [the ball] so pure. I don't think it's too far away from the keeper, but I think the pace has just beat[en] him. So yeah, [it is a] brilliant feeling.

"I was running at pace, I just thought I'd compose myself as I'm hitting it. I passed it with pace into the net, so [I am] glad."

4. Scoring winning goals is an unbelievable feeling

"I've seen Josh [Williams] out wide, and I called for the cutback and it's a great weight of pass so [that] I can hit it first time into the near post.

"It was some buzz [when the ball hit the back of the net]. I knew there were five minutes left, but even so, the winning goal is an unbelievable feeling."

5. His enjoyment is shown in performances

"Like I say, [it is probably the] happiest I've been playing football in a minute. I believe that it's showing on the pitch as well."

6. Team spirit results in victories

"I think we responded really well [to conceding]. I thought we kept it tight for a few minutes after, and then we've hit them on the break.

"We didn't let our heads drop or anything like that, and we kept momentum going in our favour and got the win in the end."

7. It's important to keep the unbeaten run going

"It's a great run [and] we can go extend it again on Saturday, which hopefully we will [do]."

8. Fans inspired the late victory

"They [the fans] come out in numbers tonight like they always do. They cheered us right until the end, which helped us a lot, and hopefully it's safe travels home [for them]."
