Whilst the Blues could not extend their four-game winning streak, they were able to earn themselves a hard-fought point down in Somerset as they faced Yeovil Town.
First-team Coach Frankie McAvoy spoke to CUTV following our 1-1 draw on the road.
Here is everything we learnt:
1. Lacking energy
“I think breaking the game down into the halves, I think we were a bit lethargic compared to the standards that we've set. Whether the pitch in terms of being a bit stickier.
“Coming later into these months of late October or November, you'll get pitches like this. I'm not sure that that helped as much in terms of trying to play and in terms of pressing as well”
2. A slice of fortune
“They obviously changed their shape. Their 4-4-2 went really direct. I thought their goal was a bit fortuitous, and I think it's Morgan that ends up heading off their lad and into the net.
“You've just got to take that on the chin. We've changed it to try and get ourselves back into it and then hopefully go and try and win it. We also changed shape, as you can see at the end.”
3. High standards
“Maybe on another day we might have sneaked a win, but overall compared to the standard we've set, we're probably a bit disappointed. The players will be disappointed themselves and ourselves as well.”
4. A gruelling journey
“I don't want to make excuses, but we did have a tough day travelling yesterday. I think the bus left at half eight yesterday morning and we don't hit the hotel until about ten past eight last night.
“Yesterday's travel was a gruelling day for us, particularly for the players. Whether that had an impact on our lethargy, I don't know. I'll never be able to say that, but we certainly weren't as energetic as we would hope we could have been today.”
5. Goals change games
“To be fair I thought we actually started okay within the game. Goals change games, and they end up getting the goal and they get their tails up a bit.”
6. Late momentum
“I felt in the main, if anybody was going to win the game, it was going to be us near the death. As I said, we were a bit less energetic than we have been recently.”
7. Hats off to the hosts
“Sometimes you've got to give credit to the opposition as well because they made it tough for us. They got men behind the ball, and they were a threat when they put it forward.
“But at the end of the day, we've just got to look at ourselves and if we're honest to the standards that we've set, that was probably a bit below the par that we were looking for.”
8. One of those days?
“I think we had something like 17 attempts with 8 on target. At the end of the day you've just got to put the ball in the net, and there's going to be games like this.
“Once the weather turns and the pitches become a stickier and harder to play on, you're just looking for that bit of quality or sometimes a bit of fortune to go your way.”
9. Well-worked goal
“I felt the goal we scored is excellent, it's a great bit of play. As I said earlier, we changed the system and really tried to burst it open as much as we can to try and go and get the winner.
“We had a few opportunities and chances to do that, but unfortunately, they don't go in, and on another day they might have.”
10. Super-sub Macadam
“He gives us that bit of energy, that bit of impetus. He's excellent off both feet, close to goal.
“Quite a lot of times he does it in training, which is good, and it's great to see it once it hits the back of the net.”
11. Cup half full
“Games like this, if you don't win them then you make sure you don't lose it.
“We've got to learn from it- make sure that when we come to difficult away days like this that we're as energetic as possible and that we can go and try and take the game to the opposition as early as possible.”
12. Through thick and thin
“I'm delighted the goal we scored happened down there because you think about the travel that they have had to do as well. Some of these people probably left early hours this morning to get here.
“I have said that probably the toughest job is to follow Carlisle everywhere in the National League, and they do it in their numbers, and I'm delighted that they do that. The backing they gave the team again today is magnificent. I'm just a bit apologetic that we probably weren't as energetic as we thought we could have been.”
