Following United’s 1-1 draw away at Yeovil Town, goalkeeper Gabe Breeze shared his thoughts with CUTV on a hard-fought afternoon in Somerset.
The Blues stopper reflected on the team’s resilience, the importance of every point, and the challenges of life on the road, as well as looking ahead to the upcoming Emirates FA Cup clash at Reading.
Here is everything we learnt:
1. A mixed bag
“It’s good that we can go 1-0 down and pick up a point, but disappointing not to get all three. It’s one of them where we have plenty of chances and concede a scrappy goal.
“When we did start to get into it, they're just locking up and keeping the shape, so it's just hard to break down - but it's a solid point on the road.”
2. All points are valuable
“I hope all points are valuable. I hope it doesn't come down to one point; I don't think my nerves can take it.
“As long as we're picking up points and we're staying unbeaten, it's good.”
3. Tough travels
“I don't think we started too badly. I just don't think we were as lively as we have been in past games. I think the goal kills us a little bit, because then that just allows them to slow the game right down and control it a lot more.
“It's one of them, I'm used to travelling, but a lot of lads might not be.”
4. Resilient Blues
“it's always frustrating, even conceding goals is frustrating. For the lads to be able to go and get an equaliser at the end of the game; challenge for three points and try and dominate most of the game, it's good.
“The lads dug deep in the end to break them down, and Harvey scored a magnificent goal.”
5. Macadam scoring again
“He scored one last week against Forest Green, right foot placed into the corner. Now he's whipped one in with his left foot from the edge of the box, so I’m delighted for him.
“He does it a lot in training, so it's nice to see it coming off on the pitch for him.”
6. A platform for Reading
“I’m looking forward to it. The FA Cup is the biggest competition in the world, so it'll be exciting to go down there.
“It’s a big old stadium and hopefully we’ll put on a show.”
7. Cupset?
“Hopefully it's a lot better than the last time we went.
“I think we're in the right form and the right mindset to go down and cause a little bit of an upset.”
8. Phenomenal support again
“It's phenomenal support again, and it's a long, long way down here.
“So for the 450-odd Cumbrians to come down, it's nice to have that support.”
