DAVID WILKES GOLF DAY

.

Staff from Carlisle United and Carlisle United Community Sports Trust participated in a charity golf day in memory of former player and coach David Wilkes on Friday 20 July.

Organised by Mick Wadsworth, Colin Carter, John Halpin, Derek Walsh and Billy Rafferty, Eden Golf Club in Crosby on Eden hosted the event with 84 golfers taking part in teams of four, with 35 people joining the group for an auction, meal and raffle in the evening.

Many former players, colleagues and local businesses supported the event alongside David’s family, which marked the second anniversary of his passing, with the CUFC CST team wearing polo shirts that had 'Wilksey' emblazoned on the back as a tribute.

Carlisle United Community Sports Trust CEO, James Tose said: “It was a fantastic fundraising event in memory of Dave, and we were delighted to take part in this very special golf day.

“Dave was an important part of Carlisle United for many years, and it was great to get the opportunity to show our support.”

Carlisle United Commercial Assistant, Martyn Vevers added: “It was a pleasure to be involved in the golf day held in memory of David Wilkes.

“There was a fantastic turnout on the day, and we look forward to the event continuing in the coming years to honour a much-loved colleague and friend.”
