BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Forest Green Rovers

Everything you need to know ahead of this weekend's game

24 January 2018

United host Forest Green Rovers this weekend and the home side will be looking to build on two consecutive league clean sheets on their return to Brunton Park.

Looking ahead to the weekend fixture, manager Keith Curle said: "The clean sheets show us that we're getting a level of solidity in our play. We now need to add quality and good decision making in the final third to what we're doing to make sure that we start picking up the results we all want to see.

"With 18 games left to go we know that we have to put a run of four or five victories together, sooner rather than later, and we know we have the ability within the dressing room to do that. If we can get a run like that going it puts us right back to where we want to be. That has to be our aim.

"Our fans were patient with us at the Crewe game, and we got the rewards because of it, and we ask for the same again. We aren't going to get everything our own way, because teams want points for their own reasons, but if we stick together and keep doing things right it should help everything else take care of itself."

The Mascots

Our mascots for this game are James and Daniel Dane, and James Mallin. We also welcome Owen Moir who will be representing Forest Green Rovers.

The Dane boys had Nicky Adams, Tom Miller and Danny Grainger as their favourite players, but James Mallin has told us that his favourite Carlisle player is his mum [she plays for the CUFC Ladies team].

Owen is most looking forward to meeting Forest striker Christian Doidge.

Have a great afternoon with us everyone!

The Man in the Middle

Our match referee this weekend is Eddie Ilderton.

Mr Ilderton has taken charge of 16 games so far this season and has shown 46 yellow cards and six reds.

One of those dismissals was an early shower for defender Tom Parkes when he was sent from the field during United's defeat at Sincil Bank earlier in the season. Richie Bennett also went in the book that day.

He was also our referee for the Exeter game in October. The Grecians nicked the contest with a second half goal and Danny Grainger and Clint Hill had their names taken that day.
