Tomorrow's Enterprise National League clash against Boston United is our dedicated Green Football Weekend fixture.
To mark the occasion, we will be hosting a range of groups and activities in the Northern Competitions Fan Zone ahead of kick-off.
Recyclable cups
We are delighted to be the launch site for a fantastic partnership between Little Coffee Cup, Cup Print, Co-cre8, CupCycling™ and North West Recycling.
This is the first initiative of its kind in the UK to deliver a full circular economy solution for used paper cups.
The bespoke Carlisle United / John Watt & Son branded cups are fully recyclable, but it is important that they are separated from general and mixed recycling waste.
Once placed in the dedicated Carlisle United recycling bins, North West Recycling will collect the cups, return them to their depot, and then transport them to James Cropper - market leader in advanced materials and paper & packaging - in Kendal, where they will be transformed into new products such as the 'Little Coffee Cup and The Big Surprise' children’s book.
Copies of the 'Little Coffee Cup and The Big Surprise' will be for sale at a special discount price for football fans. Come and learn about how we can make cups into children’s books tomorrow in the Fan Zone.
Penrith Lions
Penrith Lions will be in attendance with their mascot Terry the Lion.
They will be promoting the theme of sustainability, with Penrith Lions supporting the Recycle for Sight campaign.
This scheme involves collecting unwanted glasses, which are then cleaned, sorted, and sent to people in need all around the world.
There will be a container at the EDI Gazebo on Saturday where any fans can drop off any unwanted glasses to support the project.
Cumberland Council and Cumbria Fire and Rescue
Cumberland Council will be bringing down representatives to promote vape and battery recycling.
They will be promoting this through a series of fun games, notably their bean bag game, which promotes where waste materials should go.
In addition to this, they will be bringing battery boxes to allow fans to dispose of their batteries, and they will be showing videos evidencing the dangers of batteries and vapes.
They will even have pencils and pencil sharpeners to give away.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue will be alongside Cumberland Council sharing details about vape and battery disposal.
Bikeseven Cycle Service
Levi from Bikeseven Cycle Service, located in Longtown, will be down in the Northern Competiitons Fan Zone before the match.
He will be spreading awareness about bike safety ahead of an upcoming cycling project at Brunton Park.
