Before Carlisle United face Boston United at Brunton Park on Saturday, we caught up with defender Bevis Mugabi.
Speaking to CUTV, Mugabi discussed the group’s reaction in training, building defensive partnerships and the focus on bouncing back with a strong performance.
Here is everything we learnt:
1. A demanding week on the training ground
“The week throughout training has been pretty tough, so in that sense it's been good. The boys have been working hard and making sure that we're ready to go this weekend.”
2. Back to basics
“We just have to make sure we go back to basics and make sure we're ready to go again this Saturday.”
3. A clear reaction in training
“The coaches have put on a few good sessions for us to make sure that we're up and firing again and working hard as a team.”
4. Strong character in the squad
“It's a good group, got a lot of good players and good personalities in the changing room that push training and push everyone on match days.”
5. Building defensive partnerships
“It's all about partnerships all over the pitch. The more games I play with Morgs (Morgan Feeney), the better it will be and that goes for anyone else in the team as well.”
6. Managing recovery after a heavy schedule
“I feel good. It's taken me a few more days to recover from the Astro, which was expected, but it's about dealing with those environments.”
7. Expecting a different Boston test
“They've changed their manager and picked up results, so it's definitely going to be a difficult game, different from the ones earlier in the season.”
8. Focus on home advantage
“It's nice to be back here and working towards that goal. We just have to listen to the coaching staff and make sure we're ready to get the result we need.”
