Carlisle United are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Galvin from Barnet for an undisclosed fee.
Galvin, 24, has penned a two-and-a-half-year contract at Brunton Park - with the club option of a further year - and becomes the Blues' first addition of 2026.
Ryan began his career with Wigan Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday before making a permanent move to FC Halifax Town, following successful loan spells with Gloucester City and Maidstone United.
He gained valuable experience at National League level during a two-year spell with the Shaymen, which earned him a move to newly-promoted EFL side, Barnet.
In November 2025, Ryan joined promotion rivals Rochdale on an initial two-month loan deal, which was concluded to enable this move to be completed.
Head Coach, Mark Hughes said: “We’re delighted to welcome Ryan to Carlisle. He’s a fantastic addition to the squad, and we’re confident he’ll play a key role in helping us achieve our targets this season.
“He brings great energy and professionalism to the group, and we’re excited to see what he can produce during his time with us.”
Head of Recruitment, Martin Foyle added: “Ryan fits exactly the profile we’ve been working towards in our recruitment strategy.
“He’s athletic, ambitious, and hungry to succeed at this level, as he has done previously, and we see Carlisle United as a place where he can continue to develop while contributing straight away.
“We want players who can grow with the club, and Ryan is someone we believe can progress alongside us both now and in the future.”
Ryan will wear the number 12 shirt during his time at the club and will be eligible to make his debut in our next Enterprise National League fixture against Solihull Moors on Saturday 17 January. He will be unavailable for this weekend’s match against Chatham Town due to being cup-tied.
This move is subject to ratification from The FA, EFL and National League.
