Carlisle United Chief Executive Officer Tom Lawrence has spoken in detail about his first weeks at Brunton Park, his priorities for the Club and the work already underway to build for the future.
In his first extended interview since formally taking up the role, Lawrence discusses his approach to leadership, the importance of listening to staff and supporters, and the need to create a clear structure across the club.
He said: "For me, it’s all about building a strong culture, and I think that is built on trust.
"My first 90 days at Carlisle are about listening and learning, understanding what’s working well and what’s not working so well."
Lawrence believes the club has strong foundations to build from, with the immediate football objective remaining a return to the EFL.
"The key objective is to get back into the EFL. That’s where the club belongs.
"No club has a divine right to get out of the National League. It’s a hard league to exit, but everything is set up for success."
He also explains how the club’s developing strategy will be centred around four areas: football, supporters, community and business, with departments working towards shared objectives.
"Everybody needs to be aligned and on the same page.
"Everything we do is going to be anchored to four pillars: football, community, business and supporters."
Supporter engagement is another key area of focus, with plans being developed for a clear fan engagement calendar, continued supporter liaison meetings and regular opportunities for communication.
Tom also discusses commercial growth, financial sustainability, supporting the football department and the club’s role across Carlisle, Cumbria and the wider region.
