LADIES PREVIEW: WORKINGTON TOWN WOMEN (N)

.

Carlisle United Ladies take on Workington Town Women in Wednesday’s Women’s County Cup Final at Gilford Park.

United’s season comes to a close this week, with tomorrow’s cup final presenting this youthful side with a chance at silverware.

The last time the Blues were in the final, they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Penrith AFC Ladies before coming out victorious on penalties to lift the trophy in 2023.

The Cumbrians are four-time holders of the County Cup (2015, 2017, 2018 and 2023) and will be hoping to add to this on Wednesday evening.

No matter the result on Wednesday, this season will be a positive one for Carlisle having made the latter stages of both the League Cup and County Cup, whilst utilising a squad comprising mainly of first-year players.

Injury update

United Ladies come into Wednesday’s final with a huge injury blow to first team 'keeper, Emma Kenyon, who dislocated her knee late last week. We wish Emma a speedy recovery and all the best with her rehab.

Emma has been a pivotal part of United’s run to the final and will be a massive loss to the Carlisle squad.

Kenyon started 17 of United’s 18 games in both league and cup competitions, picking up three Player of the Match awards along the way.

United have rallied round and will be hoping to do Emma proud on Wednesday night.
