EVERYTHING WE LEARNT FROM MORGAN FEENEY: POST GATESHEAD (H)

/

After United’s stalemate against Gateshead at Brunton Park, we spoke to Morgan Feeney.

Talking to CUTV, he discussed the defensive workload, the need to be more clinical and the quick turnaround to Morecambe.

Here is everything we learnt:

1. Missing chances

“I thought we fully deserved to win the game, we had so many chances there.

‘Just one of those days where you struggle to put the ball in the back of the net.”

2. Defensive solidity

“I don't think we were in any danger of losing that game at all.

“We always strive for as many clean sheets as possible.”

3. Windy conditions

“Conditions were tough, maybe that played a factor.

“The ball was blowing in all kinds of directions, it was difficult to get your distances, but we ended up adapting well.”

4. Building momentum

“We’re now at the point where that’s got to be our aim and try to finish on as many points as possible.”

5. His goalline clearance

“It felt like the only chance they had.

“I’ve tried to get back and help Gabe (Breeze), luckily it’s cannoned off me and kept us in the game.”

6. Showing togetherness in defence

“We drive each other on, all of us in training.

“Whoever's selected to play, then we'll be there together and give 100%.”

7. Building for Morecambe

“There’s still lots of positives to take from today.

“We’re carving out loads of chances for each other; it’s just about putting them away now.”

8. Challenging away games

“They’re (Morecambe) a good side, every side in this league is a real test.

“There’s no easy games in this league.”

9. Big support from the fans

“We always get fans in numbers.

“It’ll be brilliant if we can go again and get another good result, we’re building towards the end of the season.”

10. Dealing with challenges

“We’ve had a lot of long away days recently; I feel as if that gets overlooked.

“At this stage of the season, it’s really tough.”
