EVERYTHING WE LEARNT FROM HUGH PARKER AFTER JOINING THE BLUES ON LOAN

.

After completing his loan move to Carlisle United, we spoke to new signing Hugh Parker.

Speaking to CUTV, he discussed the opportunity to play more first team football, the excitement to learn from Mark Hughes and looking forward to meeting the fans.

Here is everything we learnt:

1. The ideal move

“I’m buzzing to be here. I’m just glad to be playing first-team football.”

2. A quick decision

“It all happened in a day or so. Once Carlisle were interested, it was a no-brainer.”

3. Drawn by the club and supporters

“The fan base is massive, and the club is pushing in the National League. It felt like the right place.”

4. Excited to work under Mark Hughes

“That was a massive attraction. Growing up, you always heard his name; once I knew he was interested, I thought why not?”

5. Learning from experienced strikers

“(It's) Very important to learn off the strikers here. I know Georgie Kelly has obviously played for Bohs (Bohemians) in the past, so I know a lot of him already. He's a top goalscorer.”

6. Great football upbringing

“Coming through Bray Wanderers and UCD was a great environment with good coaches.”

7. Adapting to life in England

“Moving over at 18 was a big step, but it’s helped me develop as a player and as a person.”

8. Ready for senior football

“I’ve had my time in academy football and the 21s; now I want to push into first team football.”

9. What he brings to the Blues

“Goals, strong hold-up play, being a focal point up top and linking up with the attackers.”

10. Ambitions at the Blues

“I want to score goals, help with promotion; I can’t wait to get started.”
