Carlisle United has proudly recognised World Menopause Day 2025, joining organisations across the globe in raising awareness and promoting the health and wellbeing of women within our club and community.

The event, marked on Saturday 18 October, focused on this year’s theme — Lifestyle Medicine — highlighting how everyday choices such as healthy eating, regular exercise, stress management, and quality sleep can play a powerful role in managing menopause symptoms and supporting long-term wellbeing.

At Carlisle United, we understand that menopause is a natural stage of life that can bring a range of physical and emotional changes. That’s why we’re committed to fostering a culture where open, supportive conversations about menopause are encouraged — helping to ensure that everyone in our football family feels seen, heard, and supported through every stage of life.

Celebrating Our Menopause Ambassadors

This year, we also celebrated the important contribution of our Menopause Ambassadors, who continue to lead by example in raising awareness, sharing experiences, and offering guidance to colleagues, players, and fans.

Among them are Nigel Clibbens and Marie Ashcroft, who both bring lived experience and a wealth of knowledge to their roles. They are passionate about continuing to break down stigma, encourage discussion, and support those going through perimenopause and menopause.

Continuing the Conversation

The day was an opportunity not only to share information and stories but also to reaffirm Carlisle United’s ongoing commitment to supporting wellbeing through education, awareness, and compassion.

“Menopause is something that affects so many women, directly or indirectly,” said a club spokesperson. “By continuing to raise awareness and talk openly, we can make sure no one feels alone in their experience.”

Carlisle United remains dedicated to building a supportive and inclusive environment — on and off the pitch — where everyone feels empowered to look after their health and wellbeing.
