It's been a good start from the O's despite a slight stutter through October which has seen them draw twice and lose once in the league.

The home game against Newport turned out to be a pinch, punch, first of the month affair as the Exiles scored twice against the run of play in the first half. Aaron Drinan pulled one back, and Orient dominated, but the visitors held on to take the points.

That, of course, remains their only league defeat of the campaign to date, with September seeing them top the table as they won all four of their League Two fixtures.

They hosted the Chelsea U21 side in the Papa Johns on Tuesday night and they appeared to have worked their way to victory as they held a 2-1 advantage going into the 87th minute. But the Chelsea youngsters had other ideas as they first levelled things up and then nicked it, bagging the winner with the last touch of the game. That left the O's at the foot of their group.

A trip to Crewe awaits in the first-round of the Emirates FA Cup, in one of the many league club against league club ties that were drawn our of the hat, but definitely a priority for boss Richie Wellens will be a return to winning ways as things tighten up through what is always a tricky period of the season.

Foward Paul Smyth has two goals from the last five games, five in total, and is looking like he's starting to settle.

Getting a regular run of games was his aim when he joined from Accrington two summers ago, and that's been the case for him so far this season.

He can play wide or through the middle, and is tenacious in his approach.
