More good stuff at Penrith
We spoke to United Head of Youth Eric Kinder following another entertaining draw against Penrith at Frenchfields on Saturday.
He said: "Their equaliser would be a poor goal to give away in any game but it's disappointing that we've let it happen in time added on. It was a corner that we should have dealt with, but we didn't and they scrambled it over the line.
"I looked at my watch and we were into time added on, and I felt we deserved to win the game with the way we played and battled. I just hope it's an experience we learn from.
"We had a good first half, we kept the ball well and we were doing most things right. However, we didn't move it at the right tempo at times, but we came in at half time and thoroughly deserved to be one up.
"The substitutions followed after the break and that disrupted our pattern and shape. That's what pre-season is about though, getting everybody 60 or 70 minutes of pitch time.
"It's just unfortunate that we didn't defend the corner well enough, even though we are now looking back on two good performances against adult Northern League sides.
"We're in Wales this week and that will be five days of really hard running. It's needed though because this period is about getting to maximum fitness for August. We're going to a nice little town called Llanberis which is down at the bottom of Mount Snowdon. I'm going to treat them like adults for the trip but one problem and it all stops, so it's up to them.
"We'll be back for the friendly against Warwick Wanderers on Saturday and from there it's all about fine tuning things as we get ready for the season kick off."
