Carlisle United Community Sport Trust's Women's Wellbeing event hosted in the East Stand hospitality area on Thursday 29 January proved to be a huge triumph.
The event, organised by the Trust's Director of Governance, Safeguarding and EDI, Teresa Mulholland, shone a light on all of the wonderful provision targeted at women's wellbeing in the community.
Championed by Carlisle United Menopause Ambassador, Marie Ashcroft and Director of John Watt & Son, Carol Johnston, the event was a resounding success.
The first event of its kind, it allowed over 100 women to interact and connect with a plethora of local organisations that provide a wide range of wellbeing support.
Those in attendance were able to try taster sessions in various disciplines, as well as speak to organisations.
Tasters sessions included:
- Carlisle Dance Academy
- Andrea Fox Yoga
- Uma Kadampa Meditation Centre
- S & T Therapies
- Bodiblossom Burlesque.
The event was especially important in highlighting women’s health and wellbeing, including perimenopause and menopause. These topics are often overlooked or not openly discussed, despite having a significant impact on mental and physical well-being. The evening provided a safe and supportive environment for conversation to help reduce stigma, raise awareness and empower women with knowledge and confidence to seek support.
CUFC CST's Director of Governance, Safeguarding and EDI, Teresa Mulholland said, “I am absolutely thrilled with how the event turned out, particularly as this was the first of its kind to be held at Carlisle United. We welcomed 102 participants on the evening, alongside 13 exhibitors.
The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive, with many fantastic ideas shared for future exhibitors and workshops. All participants agreed that they would love to see another event take place.
A huge thank you to all the exhibitors and volunteers who supported me on the evening. The feedback clearly showed that we succeeded in creating a safe, relaxing environment where women could try new things, make new friends, and access information to help support their health and wellbeing”.
