Official Utilities and Sustainability Partner

Carlisle United are proud to announce a new and exciting partnership with Go Low Carbon, a Cumbria-based energy specialist, marking a significant step forward in the club’s journey towards environmental sustainability.

The partnership is already delivering results. By switching to a greener energy supply arranged through Go Low Carbon, the club has reduced its carbon emissions by 133 tonnes per year — the equivalent of the carbon absorbed by a woodland nine times the size of Brunton Park.

But this is not just about going green — it’s also about financial responsibility. The new energy contract has led to £96,000 in annual savings compared to our previous deal, helping the club reinvest in key areas both on and off the field.

Chief Executive, Nigel Clibbens said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Go Low Carbon. This will deliver significant financial benefit to the club. It also makes a huge difference to our environmental sustainability by moving us to green energy sources and opening up new green energy technologies which will be important for us in the future. It also demonstrates our commitment to work with and support Cumbria businesses and help them grow and be successful.”

As part of this partnership, Carlisle United will also explore further ways to reduce our environmental footprint — including potential investments in renewable energy solutions like solar power.

Go Low Carbon specialise in helping organisations cut their carbon emissions by securing competitive green energy tariffs and installing renewable technologies. In 2025 alone, they are on track to install more than 8,000 solar panels across the UK.

For Go Low Carbon, this partnership is about more than energy — it’s about supporting the local community. Carlisle United is a proud symbol of Cumbria, and by working together, we’re setting an example for how sport and sustainability can go hand in hand.
