United rounded off pre-season in style in Derbyshire with a convincing 3-0 victory over Derby County U21.
Second-half goals from Stephen Wearne, Regan Linney and Harvey Bunker ensured the Blues' victory with most of Rob Elliot's squad gaining valuable minutes ahead of the start of their Enterprise National League campaign.
Archie Mair had to be alert in the opening stages with Derby County U21 testing the United shot-stopper and the Scotsman was equal to the task with a fine stop on seven minutes to protect the Cumbrian's clean sheet.
The hosts went closest to opening the scoring on 18 minutes when Richards' effort hit the base of the post.
United's first real chance of the game fell to Josh Williams after 25 minutes when after smart play down the right wing, Williams drove into the Derby area but his driven effort could only find the side-netting.
Both Junior Luamba and Mintus were cautioned by the referee on 33 minutes after a confrontation off the ball.
The rest of the opening period passed without either side troubling the scoreline.
HALF-TIME: Derby County U21 0-0 Carlisle United
United made three changes at the interval with Callum Whelan, Regan Linney and Ryan Galvin replacing Hayden Atkinson, Amaru Smith and Zac Tonge.
The Blues came out for the second-half with real intensity and Linney was in the action on 52 minutes when his diagonal ball found Josh Williams, he then found Junior Luamba on the edge of the box but his shot went wide of the far post.
Stephen Wearne capped off his first start of pre-season with the Cumbrians' opener on 55 minutes. Jack Ellis' threaded through ball found the run of Wearne who fired past the Derby goalkeeper to put United ahead.
Linney then latched onto Callum Whelan's precise pass and calmly slotted past the 'keeper to increase the Blues' lead to two just three minutes later.
United dominance and a flurry of chances then followed in the closing thirty minutes.
Miguel Azeez was inches away from increasing United's cushion to three on 75 minutes. A neat interchange with Linney on the left-hand side provided the opportunity for Azeez to test his luck from just inside the area but his lobbed effort hit the underside of the bar.
Tai Bell and Georgie Kelly both tested the Derby 'keeper on 85 minutes but an impressive double save denied both the chance to extend Carlisle's lead to three.
United did add a third however on 88 minutes when an exceptional cross from Cameron Harper found Ryan Galvin at the back post, he then knocked the ball across the face of the Derby goal to the grateful Harvey Bunker who tapped home from close range.
