Carlisle United missed out on the opportunity to go top after a 3-1 defeat against Woking at Brunton Park.
Goals from Jamie Andrews, Tunji Akinola and Aiden O’Brien proved to be the difference despite Junior Luamba opening the scoring in the first half.
Mark Hughes made four changes from the 4-1 defeat at Blackpool, with Morgan Feeney, Junior Luamba, Gabe Breeze and Georgie Kelly coming in for Jack Ellis, David Ajiboye, Harry Lewis and Luke Armstrong.
Within a minute, United came close to scoring with Junior Luamba dashing down the right wing and finding Chris Conn-Clarke, whose guided effort hit the post.
Luamba’s influence on the right flank continued to blossom as he cut in and dragged a shot wide before Harvey Macadam fired from distance straight at Will Jaaskelainen in the Woking goal.
The Blues were ahead after 25 minutes through Luamba after he received the ball from Josh Williams on the right and sent a stunning shot into the top right corner.
A sharp move saw the ball worked to Macadam on the edge of the area, and his deflected effort was diverted over the bar by Jaaskelainen.
Regan Linney and Conn-Clarke combined in the 33rd minute, which saw the Blues’ number ten test Jaaskelainen with a powerful shot before firing the rebound over the bar.
Linney tried his luck from distance in the 39th minute, hitting a curling effort which different just past the left upright.
The Cardinals were level in the 43rd minute when Andrews unleashed a sumptuous strike from the edge of the penalty area, which glanced the crossbar on its way in.
And Neal Ardley’s side were in the lead in added time, with Akinola making the most of uncertain defending to fire past Gabe Breeze from inside the box.
HALF-TIME: Carlisle United 1-2 Woking
United attempted to respond with Morgan Feeney getting onto a corner, but his flick on evaded everyone.
Linney bundled his way through a challenge on the edge of the box in the 68th minute, but his effort was straight at Jaaskelainen.
The visitors secured the win in the 90th minute after O’Brien got onto Jaaskelainen’s long punt upfield and poked the ball past Breeze.
