Following a challenging night at Brunton Park, Harvey Macadam shared his thoughts on where things went wrong, how the squad will respond and what comes next for the team.
Here are five things we learnt:
1. An unexpected performance
“I wasn’t expecting it, to be honest. We did well in parts, especially in the first-half, but we just didn’t finish things off. It’s disappointing because we know we can be better.”
2. What Went Wrong
“There were multiple factors, we struggled to break them down when they sat off. Maybe we needed more dribblers on the pitch, we could get past people a bit but overall it was tough to create chances against such a compact defence, especially when you’re behind.”
3. The National League is relentless
“In this league you have to be relentless. There are big expectations at a club like this to win most games, and it’s hard to keep performances at that level all the time. But we know we’ve got to bounce back.”
4. We’re moving forward
“We’ll take the positives and move forward. We’ve got the FA Trophy game next, then we can reset. All we can do now is make sure we put things right.”
5. Getting ready for Harborough
“Harborough will be a tough game, it’s a big one for them playing a team like Carlisle, so we need to make sure we’re ready. The fans were brilliant again; they stuck with us after the whistle, and I’m sure they’ll keep backing us.”
