MATCH REPORT: CARLISLE UNITED 1-1 SOLIHULL MOORS

/

United continued their unbeaten start to the 2025/26 season with a 1-1 draw against Solihull Moors at Brunton Park.

Dan Creaney’s second-half strike had given the Moors the advantage, but Terell Thomas restored parity for the Blues.

Mark Hughes made five changes from the Blues' three-all draw against Boreham Wood last time out, with home debuts for Bevis Mugabi, Sam Murray, and Josh Grant, while Archie Davies and Georgie Kelly also came into the team.

Luke Armstrong had the first chance of the half when Regan Linney collected the ball on the left and drove at his man before delivering a fierce cross, which Armstrong diverted towards Laurie Walker, who parried.

Gabe Breeze had to be down quickly to stop Cameron Green’s powerful low drive in the 16th minute as the visitors began to threaten United.

Matt Taylor’s side continued to grow into the game, and Oscar Rutherford had Breeze at full stretch to deny the right-back's low effort at his near post.

United came close to an opener in the 32nd minute with the hosts’ Alex Whitmore coming close to heading Davies’ wicked cross into his own net.

James Clark was close to giving the Moors the advantage in the 42nd minute, flashing a half volley just past Breeze’s upright.

Jack Ellis had the best chance of the first half, but Walker was alive to palm away his free header from inside the box.

HALF-TIME: Carlisle United 0-0 Solihull Moors

Linney sparked the second half into life, cutting onto his right foot and unleashing an effort which deflected narrowly wide of Walker’s goal.

The Blues began to gain momentum, and Kelly was next to trouble the visitors, firing a volley from Davies' corner over the bar.

Creaney put the Moors ahead in the 67th minute, with the visitors getting onto a loose ball and playing the striker through to slot past Breeze.

Thomas got the Blues back on level terms in the 80th minute, picking up Kelly’s knockdown and calmly finishing past Walker.

United grew in confidence, and minutes later, Kelly had two efforts in quick succession denied by the Moors' defence, but neither side could find a winning goal.
