Luke Skinner made his Carlisle United debut off the bench as the Blues came from behind to draw 1-1 at Yeovil Town and is already targeting a home debut at Brunton Park.
The forward joined United on a month's loan from Bristol City last Friday before being introduced in Somerset the following day, having had just one training session with his new teammates.
Skinner admits the quick turnaround was challenging but enjoyed being thrown straight into action and believes the welcome from the Carlisle squad and staff helped him settle in.
He said: "It was a delight to be here, a brilliant opportunity for me to try and help this club.
"On Saturday it was a bit disappointing we only got the one point, but hopefully we can now focus on Saturday and to be able to get the three points and get this club where it should be."
Skinner was brought on with United a goal down and felt the trust shown by manager Rob Elliot gave him the confidence to try and make an immediate impact.
"Feeling trusted from the manager, obviously looking at the bench and picking me out of everyone to come on and try and make an impact.
"I thought all of our subs who came on made an impact to really get that goal.
"Whether it's the 90th minute or whether it's the 60th, it all counts."
The 18-year-old had little time to learn his new teammates, the manager's style and the demands of his new surroundings, but having experienced similar situations during previous loan spells, he was comfortable with the challenge.
"It's very difficult. I mean, like you said, it's difficult to learn names in less than 24 hours.
"So it's a really difficult situation to be put in, but I like it. I like being challenged and, like last season, I've done it a few times, so it's not a new experience for me and I really enjoyed it.
"The lads are really good, so it helped a lot to settle in."
Skinner has been with Bristol City since the age of six and sees the move to Carlisle as an opportunity to continue his development while helping the Blues in their promotion push.
"Carlisle is a massive club, it's always been, and when they're pushing for promotion and to get back into the league, I couldn't say no.
"I mean, any person, any player in the academy phase would be stupid really not to take the deal and take that opportunity to come into a team like this."
The forward has already set his sights on making such an impact during his short spell that a longer stay could become a possibility.
"I'm hoping to get as many goals, assists, minutes as I can to really turn into a fundamental player for this club.
"If it gets extended, I'll be happy with it.
"Obviously, at the end of the day, it's down to how I play and I'll always give my 100%."
Skinner arrives with previous loan experience at Weston-super-Mare, Eastleigh and Bath, as well as having already scored at this level with Eastleigh.
He believes those spells have given him an important grounding in men's football and can help him make an impact at United.
"I think it's taking the men's experience, so men's and academy football's two different styles.
"Especially with being in this league last season, maybe more of a different dynamic of what the clubs are looking at, but still you play against the same opposition."
Goals and assists will be a major part of Skinner's ambitions at Brunton Park, but the young forward also wants to bring energy and excitement to his performances.
"When I get on the ball, they [the fans] expect something to happen.
"They expect me to take on my man, to just be electric on the pitch.
"It's something I always bring energy, whether if they saw it Saturday, I always love just running, whether I'm in behind to feet, pressing on my man, I'll never stop."
Having already experienced his first taste of life in a Carlisle shirt, Skinner is now hoping to make his first appearance in front of the Brunton Park crowd this weekend.
"I can't wait, I've heard so much good stuff about the home crowd.
"Bring on Saturday and hopefully we can reward them by getting the three points they deserve."
