Following our 2-0 win against AFC Fylde in pre-season, we spoke to Regan Linney.
Speaking to CUTV after netting his first goal for the club, he said: "It went really well. Obviously [I'm] happy to get my first goal for the club. Hopefully many more to come and yeah, the boys did really well.
"As a striker, you want to score goals every single time you step foot on the pitch, so I'm really happy with that and in front of the fans as well makes it that extra bit special."
His strike on the half-hour mark was a trademark Regan Linney goal - cutting inside from the left before finding the net.
"I suppose so. Someone's obviously made the space for me and I've managed to get space myself and obviously put it away."
Linney developed a particularly strong connection with Luke Armstrong in the first-half, speaking on this, he explained: "We work on it in training, the gaffer has us working on stuff like that, so yeah, I see us working really well together as a front four, anyone who's up there."
Regan continued: "The gaffer's really on us about the press, so we got that right in stages today. Obviously, the more we play together, the more that will come off. Obviously we managed to get two goals in that first-half as well, so positive."
After stepping out in front of the Blues' faithful for the first time, the striker said: "I really enjoyed it. Obviously, there's nothing better than playing football in front of fans, regardless of if it's pre-season or not, so yeah, I'm grateful for them all coming out today."
United travel to South Shields on Tuesday night as they take the next step towards the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
"Similar game again, another tough opposition. Hopefully, we can go and get the win there as well."
On his time in Cumbria so far, he explained: "I've settled in really well, all the lads have welcomed me in. I'm really enjoying it and can't wait to get going now."
Finally, Regan spoke on how testing pre-season has been physically, saying: "I think I said it in another interview myself, this is the toughest pre-season I've ever had. Obviously, it'll come out in games, it'll prove how fit we are in games. Even in the last 10-15 minutes of games where people are tired, if we're not tired then we'll score more goals and win more games."
