Josh Williams got on the scoresheet for the first time in his professional career as Carlisle Unted beat Scunthorpe United 4-2 at Brunton Park.
The full-back scored United’s third goal of the afternoon as they got back to winning ways at home.
Williams was delighted to be able to help his team secure a crucial victory which pushes the Blues up to the top-half.
“Happy to have got three points again and delighted to have picked up my first goal as well.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for it, so I need to start shooting more.”
The 23-year-old stressed how important today’s victory was as the team look to build some crucial form going into next weekend’s game against Boreham Wood.
“We just have to keep pushing forward, we need to recover for the weekend and work hard in training.”
He has had to work hard over the summer to recover from an injury picked up during the off-season, but Williams is pleased to be back with the group and contributing to its successes.
“I had a tough start to pre-season, but I’m trying to get back to full fitness and show what I can do.
“I’m just keeping my head down and taking my opportunities when they come,” he explained.
